 Achille
is a Heat Exchanger lever machine. While it has a Vintage
look it is in fact an advanced lever-operated Espresso machine. Being
an HX it can make one cup
after another without pause and steam milk all along the way.
The Achille is not just smart looking, it's intelligent too. By using a Heat Exchanger (HX) it achieves very quick recovery - so no long waits for that water to heat up between shots. It also has a more stable brew temperature than any other lever machine for the home - and some cost twice the amount of the Achille. Uninterrupted steam is another plus of the HX. Our favorite aspects about the Achille are the following: The 58mm pro sized portafilter means that you can use standard Faema fit bottomless PF's. You can also try out alternative filter baskets in the stock Gaggia basket - which will even hold a triple shot basket!!! That is unheard of in a lever machine! Pressure release of PF prevents 'sneeze.' By a quarter turn (unlocking the portafilter after making a shot) the built up pressure in the group head is allowed to release without making a big mess. The Gaggia people were really looking for practical solutions to typical Lever problems... All around quality build and attention to detail. The machine body is nicely finished with brushed Stainless Steel and the Group is brass with polished chrome -- A very nice looking and durable package.
